From the very beginning of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master Brennan Lee Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with rich lore, a colorful mix of personalities, and a thrilling plot featuring celestial beings, fiends, and sinister influences increasing in strength within the urban setting.
Warning: Spoilers for Episode 3 of this adventure lie ahead.
The Soldiers Table Unveiled
Episode 3 finished on a dramatic pause and introduced the initial group of adventurers who will branch out from the primary party to embark on their independent quest, apart from the remaining groups.
This warrior group consists of the determined fighter (brought to life by Travis), the agile character (the talented performer), the fierce warrior (the cast member), Wicander Halovar (the player), and Kattigan (Robbie Daymond).
Why Split the Party?
Given 13 cast members, it was clear from the beginning that keeping everyone at the same party would be impossible.
Hence, the first four episodes of Campaign 4 serve as an Overture, intertwining the individual narratives before dividing into three distinct groups: Warriors, Schemers, and Questers.
Characteristics of the Warrior Group
Per the Dungeon Master, the warrior group is for participants who are drawn to a typically action-packed battle-oriented story mode where diplomatic options are scarce.
Upon first impression, characters like the hesitant healer the cleric might seem unsuited, but the developments of the latest installment make it clear why these particular heroes are perfectly fit for the Soldiers table.
Why They Must Go
For one thing, the group has a clear idea where to head next after a intense opening clash with the enemy group.
Casimir of Thjazi Fang—whose passing started the story’s plot—exploited the foes for his selfish purposes, breaking into Thjazi’s hideout, assaulting the rogue, and taking all the enchanted items to dispose of.
Casimir then settled his liabilities and fled to a fortified location in the northern region, above Dol-Makjar, with Teor’s brother hot on his heels.
Individual Reasons
Moreover, each member has a personal reason to exit Dol-Makjar:
- Thimble, as Thjazi’s partner and closest confidant, wants vengeance.
- Kattigan has experience in the region and cautions that it is a hostile location.
- The strong character and Wicander, having defied his house’s orders to kill the fighter and instead freed him, have nowhere else to go.
- Yet, their reputation as important members in the powerful family could help the party reach areas they normally couldn’t.
- Furthermore, The grateful character swore a unbreakable promise to The cleric for his salvation and will now go with him wherever.
Wanted and Hunted
Lastly, all of them are wanted by the authorities that control the setting for a range of causes, making remaining behind too risky:
- Thimble and The hero are recognized lawbreakers.
- Tyranny and The healer defied the powerful family and the army of fiends they are partnered with.
- The target is wanted dead by the family.
This leaves them no alternative but to head to the remote area in search of the traitor.
Future Episodes
From the recent installment’s post-show segment, we find out that the warrior group will not appear in the upcoming installment, leaving the rest of the participants to assemble the Explorers and Strategists parties.
Viewers can expect discovering which players will be assigned to which table in Campaign 4’s final introductory chapter, available to watch on October 24.
